Join us on a local geo-adventure that takes us back to the start of the Alberta oil boom of Leduc #1 in 1947. The tour showcases the history of this momentous oil strike and Alberta’s energy sectors, including stories and technological advancements, past and present.
On arrival, staff will ensure all guests will be wearing personal face masks and 2 m social distancing measures are followed. If you forget your face mask, then one will be provided.
Your guided tour takes you inside the large Canadian Energy Museum (CEM) facility with its theatre experiences, multi-faceted displays, as well as learning how to gold pan with sediments from the nearby North Saskatchewan River in the comfort of an indoor learning lab. Weather permitting, there are many outstanding outdoor vintage oil derricks to explore, including the exact location of the historic Leduc #1 wellhead.
